DAILY BRIEF

Daily Brief by Sue Hill

This canvas is painted in acrylics.   Sue was fortunate to watch the comical African penguins in Simonstown in Cape Town near Boulders Beach on a recent visit.   Sadly, the colony of Cape penguins has diminished over the years mainly due to overfishing, predation and climate change.

Sue chose to paint her composition of penguins on a square canvas from various photographic references she took.  She loved the pose of some of the penguins on the top of rocks or sand dunes so put them centre stage.   She created a second rock in the distance on the right and set the scene on a warm clear day with little wind.   (The huge boulders protect the beach and the sea is calmer).

She has sealed the finished painting with a matt varnish, painted the edges black and the back is wired and ready to hang.   Sue has labeled the painting and signed it at the back.
