Sue used a photographic reference to create this square-format acrylic landscape painting.
The painting explores the quiet atmosphere of a bush walk at the end of the day. Three figures move along a paved pathway towards the fading light, drawing the viewer into the scene and creating a sense of distance and movement. The overhanging branches form a natural frame around the pathway, while patches of dappled sunlight create a rhythmic pattern of light and shadow.
Sue was particularly interested in the contrast between the darker areas beneath the trees and the softer light beyond. This interplay of light and dark gives the painting depth and atmosphere, while the figures emphasise the scale and tranquillity of the surrounding landscape. The work captures a fleeting moment as daylight fades and the bush becomes quieter and more subdued.
The canvas is sealed with medium. The edges are painted black and it is labelled and signed on the back of the canvas. The painting is wired and ready to hang.
