‘AirTaskers’ by Sue Hill is the second in a series of three paintings of two window cleaners, which Sue wanted to paint in a different manner to the first. She was inspired by reference photographs she took while looking up at window cleaners from street level. Their high-visibility clothing, colourful buckets and helmets bring strong, vibrant colour to the composition, while the glass windows create interesting reflections.
The canvas for ‘AirTaskers’ was primed with moulding paste and patted with paper to bring a stippled effect to the canvas. This was dried and sealed before Sue began painting the subject. The safety ropes link the two cleaners in the scene.
The canvas is sealed with satin varnish and is wired ready to hang. It is signed on the back and the edges are painted black.
