Cleaning UP

Cleaning UP by Sue Hill is a mixed media painting on canvas, painted in a landscape format depicting two window cleaners high above the ground on a city building.

Sue was inspired by reference photographs she took while looking up at window cleaners from street level. Their high-visibility clothing, colourful buckets and helmets bring strong, vibrant colour to the composition, while the glass windows create interesting reflections.

This is the third painting of window cleaners using different methods of painting the same scene.   The canvas was prepared using various pieces of canvas which had been cut up into shapes and stuck on the mother canvas, to which, texture was added.   Sue painted with washes over these shapes using both transparent and opaque paint.

The canvas is sealed with satin varnish and is wired ready to hang.   It is signed on the back and the edges are painted black.
