BENCH BIRDS
Bench Birds by Sue Hill
This square canvas is painted in acrylics and with the use of stencils.
Sue’s inspiration came from seeing ladies sitting on a park bench enjoying each other’s company. She primed the canvas and with acrylic paint remaining on her palette from another painting she was doing at the time, she used stencils over this. She prepared her scene initially placing the bench and the middle figure in white and blue centrally. The figures either side are also looking toward the viewer, while the dog on the right has picked up a scent to follow. The stencil marks that came through were emphasized and re-painted in places with the shadows leading the viewer’s eye towards the middle.
Sue has sealed the finished painting with a matt varnish, painted the edges black and the back is wired and ready to hang. Sue has labeled the painting and signed it at the back.
